How do I convince my parents I should NOT take AP English next year?

I just want to skate by during my Junior and Senior year. I don't want to do summer homework next year. This year I passed with a C, which was really a B on the weighted scale. I've already just talked to my mom about it and she said that I pretty much had to take it.

Tell her that it looks better on college applications if you get a really good grade in an average class then if you get an average grade in an AP class.
